PUNCHGUARD™ FOR DEFENSE COUNSEL

License PunchGuard across your book.

Detect meal period violations across every client, every pay period, before payroll runs. See them all in one firm portfolio. Bill it as a proactive compliance service. Built by a licensed California attorney with 20+ years as in-house counsel and Director of Operations, running the timekeeping and payroll systems these cases are built on.

Illustrative sample data. Not client information.

“Catching meal break violations during quarterly reviews isn't compliance — it's evidence collection.”

How it works for firms

01

Invite each client.

Ask a client for access by email. They approve it inside their own PunchGuard account, and can end it at any time.

02

Clients audit every pay period.

Each client uploads a timeclock export from any system, and PunchGuard detects meal period violations before payroll runs. If an export can't support the analysis, we'll tell you first.

03

Review across your book.

Your firm sees each client's findings on one portfolio view: meal violations, missing punches, and recurring findings by date range.

PORTFOLIO-LEVEL VISIBILITY

Every client. One view.

01

Violations across every client company.

Meal violations, missing punches, and recurring findings for every client that grants your firm access.

02

Systemic risk surfaces early.

Recurring findings show which violations repeat across pay periods, so patterns surface before an LWDA notice lands.

03

Clients stay in control.

Clients grant your firm access and can end it at any time. You see summaries only, never pay rates or individual employees.

What PunchGuard detects

Transaction-level detection across every employee and shift. Where a meal period can be waived by mutual consent, PunchGuard flags the shift for review instead of counting a violation. With pay rates, a client's own report also calculates premium exposure.

No meal period

Shifts over 5 hours with no recorded meal punch.

Short meal period

Meal punches under 30 minutes in duration.

Late meal period

Meal period not started before the 5-hour mark. The 4:59 rule, applied to every shift.

Missing punches

Incomplete punch records, flagged per Donohue v. AMN Services standards.

First meal waiver question

Shifts over 5 and up to 6 hours with no meal recorded. Flagged for review, since the meal may be waived by mutual consent.

Second meal waiver question

Shifts over 10 hours with no second meal recorded. Flagged for review, since a waiver is possible on shifts up to 12 hours.
